What is Praxeology?
Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 4:36PM Praxeology (literally "the logic of human action") is an a prioristic (purely deductive) science that defines the universal laws of human action. Its foundation is based on the axiom, "human action is purposeful behavior". Catallactics (commonly referred to as Economics) is the most developed branch of Praxeology.
Praxeology itself grew after the development of Economics. The discovery that economic logic applied not just to the sphere of markets, but to all human action was a major scientific breakthrough. The idea held that, if a man acts purposefully, he must follow a logical order inherent to all purposeful actions.
Understanding the conscious behavior of human beings as always purposeful has vast implications for knowledge in the regularity in action. Laws can be derived and we can further understand the extent and limitations of the planning we can employ in our daily lives and society.
